Brett Conti here, newbie on the block, chiming in on Uplaya with a few of the reasons I really dig using it. First up - Because, it's all about the song, man. I'll be posting a few more reasons later on.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE SONG, MAN.
I consider myself a songwriter, first and foremost. Most everything else about music and the biz is cool, too. But, great songs become the spiritual album to peoples lives. That means something to me. Songs are also the irrefutable building blocks to this business. Great songs have the timeless power to make humans reminisce like nothing else really does. Think about it. I'll bet you can remember your prom song, wedding song, the songs you get laid to, get speeding tickets to, the song that got you through that battle with...the time that....can't you?
Songwriting is my thing – my craft, my real aspiration, and Hit Song Science helps me to analyze a little differently about what I do, in a concrete way. While to me, its not just about writing "hits", we obviously know that people, in some way, relate and resonate with those kinds of songs, and as a songwriter I believe the ultimate goal should be to relate to and have people resonate with, the stories that I tell and the music that I jam along side them. I think that Uplaya focuses on that particular apple, not necessarily the tree, the weather, or the soil or how big the tits are on the farmer going to market. And that, is really what got me to use HSS, period.

Being an Indie says a lot of things these days. Close your eyes and think the word indie and what do you see behind those closed eyelids, whatever you see inside your mind behind those closed eyelids today is indeed a true indie. It used to be a very unique definition, a certain genre, a certain category, but soon many became completely fed up with the standard record industry and rocketed out of their sleepy little hollow and screamed towards the sky. Screaming listen, listen, listen to my song. And here we are a dozen new “The Latest, Hottest Website” for the Indie artist popping up everyday on the net and yes, we are all loading our jewels right there into everyone we can find so people can finally listen, listen to our song. So unlike the Major Label days, even if they don’t want to listen, even if they don’t want anyone else to listen, our songs get out there and somebody listens to our songs and some really dig them, maybe not, but still they heard our song.
A good song or bad song is entirely an entity defined by the listener only, so in that sense we all have good songs. Today on Uplaya not only do our songs get heard, we get cool little Platinum robots or Gold little robot awards if our song passed the Scientific Hit Song Algorithm. So in round up Thank God and Thank those incredibly loyal fans for the “Indie Sites” the creator of those sites, the lovers of those sites and yes the vary ones who thrive on those indie sites to give us a listen and hopefully maybe one day, you will see huge tour busses pulling into town, one of these songs on the radio and you will be able to say, I knew those guys when they were just on this obscure web site and were new and really had no fans yet and now we sit here with 2nd row tickets to a sold out show…..Cool, Uh WAY COOL !
