MTHDS: Shredding Notes and Slopes
The winner of uPlaya’s Music Video Contest and this week’s featured band on uPlaya- MTHDS- knows how to shred more than just a guitar. Scaling half-pipes, landing gap jumps, and taking on the powder-filled back bowls of Vail, Colorado, the six member alt rock / hip hop band came together in 2007 through a shared love of music and snowboarding. When deciding on a name to call themselves, they came up with something that is representative of both who they are as well as their music; MTHDS is an acronym for Music That Heightens Different Senses and is also a reference to a snowboarding trick known as the “Method.” Together for less than four years, the band has already played alongside of a mishmash of bands from The Roots to Asher Roth to Ludacris and 30h!3 to Darius Rucker!
